Early Career in Travel and Tourism My professional journey began many years ago after I completed my studies in Travel and Tourism. My first career was with a tour wholesaler specializing in vacation packages to destinations such as Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, and Hawaii. This role afforded me the opportunity to travel extensively, conducting hotel inspections and leading familiarization trips for travel agents. Both for work and leisure, I travelled often and relished the flexibility that came with being young in the travel industry. These years allowed me to move around, gaining valuable experience by working in hotels and guiding tours for several companies. I truly loved every moment of it. Transition to International Education I eventually left the travel industry to pursue further studies, earning a Masters in Adult Education. This led to a rewarding new career in international education, where I worked with people from all over the world who came to Canada to study English. Although I was not travelling as frequently as before, I still enjoyed connecting with individuals from diverse backgrounds and continued to satisfy my wanderlust during vacations and time off. Over the years, I explored a few different professions, but my passion for travel remained strong. The impact of Covid brought the possibility of not being able to leave Canada, which was a significant realisation for me. While Canada is and always will be my home, travel is what truly fulfills me. The chance to explore new places, meet new people, hear different languages, and try new foods energizes and completes me. It became clear that I needed to reconnect with my passion for travel.
