My name is William Brost and my love of travel started at a really young age with family road trips. Then, when I was a bit older, it was all the local travel. These local trips would include traveling to the beach or to go see local tourist attractions like a giant pysanka, giant Bunnock bone, and to international Bunnock tournaments. These may not seem like huge things to most people, but it was the time spent with my family that meant the most to me. This taught me that travel does not always have to take you far away to be meaningful and that meaningful does not always have to be with family. It can stem from trying to break out of your comfort zone, seeing new places, or meet new people. My first international trip was to California to go to DisneyLand, LegoLand and California Adventures and my first overseas trip was to London, England when I attended university. The trip to London is what really sparked my interest in different cultures, ways of life and people. This interest then took me on my first cruise where I learned that you can experience pieces of multiple communities all in one trip. The cruise life also showed me something magical of being able to wake up in a new place each day. Seeing how much this has opened my eyes and made me a dreamer I want to be able to give that sense of wonder and curiosity to others. I graduated from the Travel and Tourism program at CDI College located in Calgary, Alberta with honours. To achieve this, I was always digging deeper to learn as much information as possible. My curiosity continues to bloom with every destination I research! You never know what fun attraction, historical site, or natural beauty you may find. Recently I have been able to explore the world of solo travel with my first ever solo trip taking me all the way to Sydney and Brisbane Australia! During this trip I made my way to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and took an 8-day cruise. The climb to the top of the bridge was something I looked at and thought would be interesting, however I had friends that also researched the climb and tried to tell me it was something that I would not be able to do. That stuck with me and became the fuel to fire and I made it all the way to the top. At the top I looked out and felt like I was on top of the world. At that moment, that feeling of "I can do anything" really took over and I wondered why I was so worried in the beginning. Travelling alone can be scary the first time, but once you get over the nerves and get on your vacation, solo travel is one of the most life-changing challenges I have tackled. I no longer see the world as being a big scary place but a place to explore, learn and grow as a person. As a consultant with Expedia Cruises St. Albert let me help you with my personal experiences to ensure that you have all the information you need travel the world, solo, with friends or family, making your own meaningful memories.
